Creativity Club launching in March which aims to provide a creative outlet for young people during lockdown. The project is completely free!

About this Event

The Diaspora Multimedia Hub is a creative collaboration between ISRAAC Somali Community Association, Sheffield Hallam University and Eryal TV. We are very excited to announce that the DMH will be launching a Creativity Club this March which aims to provide a creative outlet for young people during lockdown. The project is completely free and will take place online via Zoom.

The Creativity Club will consist of 4 Zoom sessions in total from Monday 8th March to Friday 26th March. Participants will be allocated a £50 budget to create anything they want, and record a short video diary of their creative process.

Who is it for?

We are looking for 16-25 who want to explore their creativity in lockdown. No experience needed!

What will we do?

You will have 7 days to create a piece of work that explores your creativity in lockdown. You can create anything – we encourage you to be as imaginative as possible!

For example, a collage, a piece of writing, a makeup look, a short film, photography, an audio piece or soundscape, a sculpture/model, a painting, a T-shirt design etc. Anything which explores your creativity in lockdown.

Participants will be allocated a budget of £50 for equipment and materials needed to create their piece.

Week 1 – Planning – writing a 1-page brief of your creative idea including a list of materials needed.

Week 2 – Creating!

Dates:

Week 1 will run from the 8th to 15th March.

Must be able to attend an introduction session – 8th March 6-7:30pm and 1 group session during the week (tbc)

Week 2 will run from 20th to 26th March.

Must be able to attend 1 group session during the week (tbc) and the final session on the 26th March at 6pm – 8pm, which will be a virtual showcase for all the participants to share what they have created
