The Sheffield BAMER Action Group was set up in March 2020 and developed as a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim was to forge a co-ordinated and cohesive BAME response which would be able to negotiate on behalf of the broader BAME community in Sheffield with bodies such as the Local Authority (Sheffield City Council).
A co-ordinated BAME Action Group was long overdue in raising the case for much greater and more effective support for Sheffield’s BAME communities across a range of issues.
The Sheffield BAMER Action Group has been successful in delivering food parcels, producing masks for the community and distributing multi-lingual leaflets outlining the dangers of COVID-19 and emphasising the NHS guidelines on how to avoid its spread through the community.
